Forensic Challenge 11 - "Dive Into Exploit" - Submission Deadline Passed

03 Jul 2012 Angelo Dellaera challenge forensic-challenge
Folks, the submission deadline for the Forensic Challenge 11 “Dive Into Exploit” created by Georg Wicherski from Giraffe Chapter has passed. We have received 2 good submissions and will be announcing results before the end of July. Without doubt, this challenge was one of the most difficult ones the Honeynet Project provided in the last years so we are really glad about the submitted solutions which seems really high-level at a first glance.

Forensic Challenge 11 - "Dive Into Exploit" - Deadline Extended

31 May 2012 Angelo Dellaera challenge forensic-challenge
Taking a look at the submissions we realized that… mmh no submissions at all… We already knew that solving this challenge requires high skills but it seems like more time is needed in order to solve the Forensic Challenge 11 - “Dive Into Exploit”. For this reason we decided to extend the submission deadline to 2012, July 1st. Have fun (and don’t be shy)! Angelo Dell’Aera The Honeynet Project

Release of WoLF Viz

09 Mar 2012 Christian Seifert forensic-challenge
Frasier, who participated in our recent visualization forensic challenge has released his visualization tool WoLF Viz at http://code.google.com/p/wolf-viz/. WoLF Viz works by parsing arbitrary text log files into a network (graph) of words, where the words are nodes and the edges are adjacent word pairs. The edge weights are based on how often the two words are seen next to each other. It then draws a map of log file, looking at each word-pair as it moves through the log file, using colours to represent the edge weights of each word-pair.

Congratulations to the winners of Forensic Challenge FC10- Attack Visualization !

16 Feb 2012 Ben Reardon challenge fc10-d13 forensic-challenge visualization
While the quantity of submissions for FC10 was lower than usual - we had expected this because of the amount of work required to submit plus being over the Christmas break - the quality of the solutions was really inspiring. Of course the hardest part was deciding the winners, and as expected the traditional scoring method was not ideal for this type of challenge because the challenge was about creating and developing ideas, rather than just answering a number of dry questions.
